Tom walked toward the Chamber to have a moment alone; he just needed a break. Apparently, so did you, because when he arrived, you were sitting on the floor with your back to him.
And the basilisk.
He crept up behind you, his jaw lolling at an ugly angle. He opened his mouth to stop him, but to his surprise, you beat him to it.
"Don't you dare !" you shouted at the creature, and it stopped. Not only did it stop, but it curled up beside you. The large, fearsome snake, with a tender side for you, much like itself.
