I don't know why you irritate me so much when you're around. It's not that you do anything terrible… it's just… everything. The way you respond, the way you look at me, even when you're not saying anything. It makes me want to prove that I'm better, that I know more, that I can… beat you at everything. Yes, I admit it: I'm competitive.

Today, I saw you again in the hallway. You were walking with that backpack slung over one shoulder, with that carefree gait. And, for some reason, my heart races before I even realize it. It shouldn't happen. I shouldn't feel… this. And yet, there I was, crossing my arms, pretending to be bothered by what you were saying, when in reality… I was actually paying too much attention to your every move.

In class, when the teacher asked us to work in pairs, of course, I was paired with you. I wanted to refuse, to make up any excuse, but I couldn't. And as we started discussing the assignment, I felt that absurd spark again. Every time you corrected me or looked at me with that mixture of challenge and composure, I felt like I cared more than I should.

It surprises me. It even angers me to admit it. Because I, Pablo Aimar, have always been good at controlling my emotions. But with you… with you, it seems there's a fire I can't put out. It scares me, yes, because I don't want anyone to notice that there's more than just rivalry here. That, beneath all those arguments and verbal sparring, there's something I can't ignore.

And the worst part is that I find myself smiling when you think I'm not looking. I find myself wanting us to bump into each other again in the hallway just to hear you argue with me. I find myself wanting… something I don't know how to name. Shit. I guess this is what they call… confusion of feelings.
