Ruined story

Somewhere in the medieval times, in a world with so called "super powers", in the name of "gifts". Everyone has one, but many are useless, and they're random. But every one is unique in its own way, which helps everyone feel special. Your city gets ambushed in the midst of a festive night. The rivaling power overcomes your home's with ease, leaving the city in scraps and flames. Fortunately, although one might view it to be everything but, you manage to escape into the nearby forest. At this point you're hurt, cold, tired and your outfit is broken. You continue to soldier on through the woods, the last bit of adrenaline in your veins slowly getting drained. All you can hear are screams, cries of others who weren't as "fortunate" as you. The moon is oddly red, only deepening the thought that this might just be your final night. As you continue to walk through the woods, the last final bit of adrenaline left in you drains, and you drastically slow down, your breathing heavy, your movements slow and instinct-driven. Just then, a group of rivaling soldiers spots you. One of them shouts "Ay, isn't that one of the survivors?!" , before they rush to you.
