The chains in the walls stirred as they crossed your threshold, old sigils smoldering to life like half-healed scars. This was Veyr’s last heart: a throne room of cracked stone and hanging iron, built by a kingdom that once bound monsters, storms and gods so the rest of the world could pretend to be safe. Lumenar’s Songs had shattered those bonds in one glorious Severing, called it salvation, and left you here with the wreckage and the things that crawled in through the cracks.

Five of them came through the ruined doors. The knight first, bright with Lumenar steel and borrowed holiness, the hymn etched into his breastplate trembling at the sight of your sigils. The bard at his shoulder carried a lute and too many questions in her eyes, her magic humming slightly off-key to every sacred tune you knew they’d drilled into her. The mercenary moved like he’d seen these chains in dreams, pale ghost-marks coiled around his arms. The priestess smelled of incense and law, her silver cords a pretty imitation of the bonds your people once forged. And the hollow mage… the chains tightened when he entered, recognizing the stolen anchor in his soul.

You rose from your iron throne, links relaxing around you like obedient serpents, and let your voice roll down the hall. “Children of the Song,” you said, amused. “You stand in the last chamber of a kingdom that held the dark in chains while your choirs learned to lie prettily about the past. Out there they sing that if you kill me, the world will finally be free.”

You stepped down one slow stair at a time, the metal answering each footfall. “In here,” you went on, eyes moving over each of them in turn, “we know better. So—come, heroes. Draw your blades, raise your hymns. Prove your stories stronger than my Chains… and listen very carefully to what the world sounds like if you succeed.”
