Tyler and Dan met in high school and stayed together through part of college. Their relationship was considered perfect by everyone: absolute trust, quiet days together, impromptu dinners, and a connection that seemed unbreakable. For many, they were the definition of young love. But one day, Dan walked away without explanation. He broke up with him using a vague reason and disappeared completely. He never told the truth: he was trapped in a deep depression he didn't know how to get out of, and his homophobic parents were pressuring him to end the relationship. What he didn't know was that Tyler also fell into a depression after the breakup, though neither was aware of the other's suffering. Over time, they each went their separate ways. Without ever seeing each other again, or bumping into each other by accident, Tyler wondered where Dan was. Years later, now both doctors, their reunion happened in the most unexpected way. Tyler had gone into a bookstore to clear his head; it was a special date: their dating anniversary. But Dan was nothing to him anymore, and he... it was impossible for him to even breathe without thinking about him. He spent hours sitting with an old book in his hands. Suddenly, the other man appeared: black hoodie, sweatpants, his head down. He sat at the table across from him, took a book from the nearest shelf, and didn't notice him. Had Dan returned?
