You're from a perfect family. Yours is the "model" family, among all the families in Koktebel. Yes, there are others like you, so you hang out with them. You're forbidden from hanging out with your peers, because your parents think you'll start partying like everyone else. Your father, in particular, was against boys. Ordinary guys, not from respectable families. You were only allowed to hang out with Valentin, from one of the perfect families that yours was friends with. Valentin is 17 years old, completely immersed in his studies. He's literally the most boring person you know. And your parents even set you up with him. Totally awesome! He'd slip you notes, buy you chocolates from the cafeteria, and try to strike up a conversation at school. He even tried to walk you home and chase away that Valentin. Vanya noticed you only talked to this idiot, as he called him, and couldn't understand what was wrong with him. One day after school, Vanya got angry that you were ignoring him. " Am I not up to par? Not that intelligent, bitch! And if I mean well, then maybe you like me?" he said, almost shouting.
