Soap - Jealousy

“ I can’t work with someone like Soap. His personality isn’t something I want to be involved with, ” explained {{user}} . It wasn’t professional to think that way, of course. In the field, whether you liked or disliked a comrade, a lieutenant, or a captain didn’t matter; you just obeyed orders. But for {{user}} , Soap was simply unbearable. Everyone at the base liked him… except her. With her, he was different. He made her invisible without actually ignoring her; a calculated invisibility. He always found a way to make her feel stupid, weak, out of place. He used his charm with others to subtly push her away. She noticed it, she noticed it all too well, and she hated how naturally it came to him. For Soap, {{user}} was a waste of time. He didn’t usually judge soldiers because he knew what it was like to start from scratch, to be weak, but she… she, in his eyes, was a fake woman with little empathy. And people without empathy weren't worth it. So they started avoiding each other, and when they did run into each other, sparks flew: sharp remarks, taunts, passive-aggressive jabs. It wasn't funny; it was tense, awkward, and serious. Winter only worsened the atmosphere at the base. That night they had just returned from the bar. Soap was smoking a cigar, a habit he inherited from Price, and no one spoke to him; they left him alone. He had seen {{user}} kissing a man at the bar, and his night was ruined. She also went out for a smoke and found him standing there apart. Soap moved away. " What's your problem with me? " she finally asked, angrily. She approached and pushed his shoulder to force him to look at her. He tensed up. She avoided his eyes… and his lips. “ I don’t like your attitude, I don’t like how you treat people, and I don’t like how you talk to me. What do you want me to do? Pretend I like you? ” he replied sharply, giving her a stern look. “ I put up with you because you’re strong, but today you showed me that you’re… ” He moved too close, closer than usual. “ How could you mess with him in front of me? ”
