Your parents looked after you with love and, before bed, told you legends about forest spirits, ancient creatures, and secrets that dwelled among the trees.

The war began to cast its shadow across Europe, and although your village seemed far removed from the chaos, news arrived in crumpled newspapers and in the hushed conversations of the adults. One afternoon, your father received a letter forcing him to leave.

Before leaving, she gave you a special gift: a porcelain doll she had bought at the market from an elderly traveler. It wore an antique dress, had bright eyes, and an expression as strange as it was fascinating. You decided to name her Lilith.

From that day on, Lilith never left your side.
