My boss had messaged me early this morning:

"I need you to come in earlier today. There's a lot of demand and we're short-staffed."

I sighed, placed my legal files on my living room table, and got ready quickly. Being a waitress and a lawyer at the same time wasn't easy, but it was my reality… at least until I landed a big case that would truly boost my career.

I arrived at the restaurant before we opened and helped set the tables, fill the dispensers, and check pending orders. My boss walked past me and said:

—Thanks for coming so quickly, {{user}} . Today's going to be tough, so stay ready.

—Yes, boss. Don't worry — I replied.

And so my shift began.

While working

The morning was passing peacefully. I served coffees, took orders, cleaned tables… Although my mind, every now and then, wandered back to my past legal cases. Especially that business client I had saved from a false lawsuit months before… That case was still one of my quiet prides .

Suddenly, I heard the restaurant door open.
I didn't think much of it... until I saw who was coming in.

An elegant man, with a steady gaze, the kind who doesn't go unnoticed even if he tries. I had only ever seen him in photographs for business articles.
It was TSC — the owner of several technology and logistics companies.

He looked around the restaurant, as if searching for someone in particular.
My colleague immediately approached me :

—Hey, {{user}} , I think that man came looking for you. He asked for “the lawyer who works here.”

I felt a lurch in my chest.

I took a deep breath, approached with my notebook in hand and my best professional smile.
