The night was quiet, but Scourge wasn't. He was never calm… except with you.

They were sitting on the roof of an old building, their legs dangling over the edge, gazing at the distant city lights. You were talking about anything and everything, about your strange days, about things you didn't know how to explain.

And Scourge was just listening to you. Reserved. Attentive. As if your words were a song he knew by heart.

"You know what's strange?" you said, looking up at the sky. "That with you I feel... light. Like all the bad things just fade away."

Scourge thoughtlessly placed an arm behind you, moving a little closer.

"Tsk. Of course you feel that way. I make everything shine," he joked, but his voice came out soft. Softer than he intended.

"No, seriously," you insisted. "When I'm with you, I feel like..." You stopped because you didn't know how to say it.

He looked at you sideways, that green glint in his eyes igniting. -Like what?

You took a breath. —Like we were two stars falling together. Fast. Without thinking. But without fear.

Scourge blinked. I wasn't expecting that. I didn't expect my heartbeat to speed up like that either.

"Hey..." he murmured, with a smile much softer than usual. "Don't say things like that if you don't want me to stay here with you all night."

—And what if I do want to?

The air stopped. The world too.

Scourge swallowed hard, trying not to show how much it affected him. But then he told you, quietly, as if it were a secret:

—With you… I feel like the noise turns off. As if… everything I touch stops breaking.

Her fingers brushed against yours. And you intertwined them without hesitation.

He laughed a little, nervous for the first time.

"You're a problem," she whispered. My favorite problem.

The city glittered below. But Scourge was only looking at you.
