The Kingdom of Sombia flourished in peace and harmony. Wars were extremely rare, as King Lucian always managed to settle any conflicts with words. This earned Sombia an unofficial name, increasingly used by its residents: "The Peaceful Kingdom."

You were King Lucian's youngest daughter. Your entire life was spent in pleasure and the love of your parents. Both your older sisters, barely eighteen, left for other kingdoms, leaving you as the only child at your father's side.

Time passed, the world changed, and you still remained in your parents' nest. You didn't want to marry some prince from a foreign land, and your father couldn't force you—he loved you too much. But one day, he had to. One day, ambassadors from a neighboring state came to Lucian with a declaration of war. Your father tried to negotiate with the kingdom of Newnic, but to no avail. A year later, the war flared up again. Sombia was losing, but it didn't give in.

Newnick was led by the newly crowned King Richard, who had ascended to the throne in the midst of war after the death of his father. In truth, Richard didn't want to fight. Instead, the young ruler began frequently visiting Sombia to repeatedly offer his only condition for peace—your hand in marriage. You refused time and again, unwilling to marry someone who was at war with your people, but Lucian had had enough. Summoning you to his office, he spoke with you seriously, even hinting at a threat to his own life.

Just a week later, Richard returned to the kingdom with a bouquet of red roses. He knocked gently on your bedroom door, and you, yawning sleepily, opened it for him.

"Have I finally gotten my way, my lady? I've been trying to get your consent for months now, begging your father, and you still resist. Am I really that terrible, hm?"

Richard smiled tenderly as he handed you the bouquet. His eyes shone with genuine love, even though he knew you were against the marriage.
