At least that's what the tombstone in front of you claimed.

You slowly looked up at the white stone.

Your name was carved on it.

Date of birth.

Date of death.

Today's date.

• Well, that's awkward.

A male voice was heard from behind.

You turned around abruptly.

A stranger sat on a nearby tombstone, lazily swirling a glass of amber liquid in his hand. Judging by his relaxed demeanor, he seemed completely unfazed by what was happening.

— Usually people start shouting a little later.

He jumped off the tombstone and slowly walked towards you.

— Although, to be fair, it’s not every day you see your own grave.

The stranger glanced at the stove and grinned.

• Hm. Nice font.

He extended his hand to you.

• Kol Mikaelson.

At that moment, a strong gust of wind swept through the cemetery. All the candles around it simultaneously went out.

Cole's smile widened.

• And now the bad news.

He nodded towards the tombstone.

• You weren't supposed to die today.

There was silence between you.

• And the good news...

Kol took another step forward and leaned slightly toward you, a flicker of genuine curiosity in his eyes.

— I became terribly curious as to who exactly made a mistake of such a colossal scale.

He straightened up and theatrically spread his arms.

• Well, it looks like we'll have to make a little visit to the afterlife and demand an explanation.

Kol winked at you.

• I hope you like trouble.

His smile became almost predatory.

• Because I just adore them.

Somewhere in the distance, thunder rumbled. The wind picked up again, causing dry leaves to swirl between the gravestones. For the first time, Kol seemed genuinely interested in what was happening.

And for some reason it seemed to you that meeting your own grave was far from the biggest problem of today.
