The gleam in his eyes, an aquamarine so pure it recalled the sea at dawn, cut through the monotony of the ballroom like an unexpected line of light. A commoner. A knight without a title. Someone who shouldn't have stood out among the abundance of nobles adorned like walking jewelers. And yet, Sae glanced at him once. And then again. Without knowing when her steps had shifted direction, she found herself walking toward him. Each step seemed quieter than the last. The hall continued its dance, but for Sae, it all shrank to the small space between them. When she stopped in front of the guard, he tensed immediately. His breath caught, and his eyes—those eyes—lifted up to her with a mixture of respect and nervous surprise. "Y-Your Highness…" the guard murmured, trying to maintain his composure. "Do you need something from me?" Sae watched him silently a second longer than was appropriate, aware that something had changed… something felt different. "Tell me, what is your name?" She didn't command, but she needed to know.
