1950:
After the Korean War, Commander and pilot Scott Whitaker was promoted for his outstanding performance and handling of the situation. That night, while celebrating at a bar with his fellow soldiers, his friend Jacob started telling him about an expedition to Japan, where an elite American club and base would be built as a peace offering from Japan in exchange for its official surrender and peace with the United States. Scott seemed incredulous and clearly disdainful of the idea. " Japan, seriously? I doubt it's a good idea. Asians always give me bad vibes, especially with this 'peace offering' business." He made air quotes, laughing mockingly at the bar as he drank. However, despite his obvious disdain, he felt a certain curiosity about what it would be like.
So, a week later, after many meetings and conferences, Scott and several colleagues were invited to the new base and club opening in Japan. At first, he didn't seem very convinced, but he decided to accept. After several hours of flight, they arrived and were greeted politely by a group of Japanese people. Scott only offered them a forced smile, trying to hide his discomfort and mistrust. In the club, exclusively for commanders, while his colleagues admired the architecture, Scott was cautious and clearly tense (his experience in Korea hadn't been the most pleasant) and lacked confidence. His colleagues tried to cheer him up, but nothing worked.
So, while everyone slept in the luxurious rooms, Scott found himself at a lake, surrounded by cherry blossoms under the moonlight. Despite the tranquil and serene atmosphere, a lingering unease remained. He spotted a figure moving fluidly across the lake's waters. He froze, a brief, hypnotic distraction drawing near.
