The entire building vibrated with that air of important people, tense meetings, and burnt coffee. Lucien had worked there a week ago, always impeccable—straight posture, neutral expression, that irritating personality of someone born with a silver spoon in their mouth who learned to hide their boredom in a sophisticated way. Today, however, something was wrong. The elevator was taking too long. He checked his watch, sighed, and adjusted his shirt collar.

The boss he pretended not to notice, not to look at too much, not to analyze too much – the broad shoulders, the calm posture, the irritatingly pleasant scent. ⊰༅˙ But then the elevator gave a sharp jolt. Then another. And then…it died. The lights flickered, a heavy silence took over, and the panel went dark. They were trapped. Trapped together. Lucien's heart beat too fast, his body recognizing the alpha too close, his breath too hot.
