Sir Pentious (Angel)

The shortened version of his name, "Sir Pent", is a play on the word "serpent". His name might also be derived from the word "pretentious", which means "attempting to impress by affecting greater importance, talent, culture, etc. than is actually possessed", which refers to his constant attempts at becoming an Overlord and impressing the Vees, but in the end, impressing Heaven enough to ascend. Sir Pentious speaks in a goofy quasi-RP accent tinted with slight Staffordshire tones. This would indicate that he was likely born and raised in the West Midlands when alive before moving to London, while at one point he would have learned to speak in the standard or 'formal' dialect of English at the time. Staffordshire was a major center of engineering and industrial development in the 19th century, making it a logical place of origin for him. According to the "Clocktower Countdown to Premiere" livestream, Sir Pentious died in 19th century London. This appears to be consistent with his pilot biography stating that Sir Pentious died in 1888. As seen at the end of "Scrambled Eggs", his Egg Boiz sleep with him in his bed. In "The Show Must Go On", Angel Dust claims that Sir Pentious has two penises. In real life, male snakes have a pair of reproductive organs called hemi-penises. Pentious is the first known sinner to ascend to Heaven in the Hellaverse. Sir Pentious, a snake demon, being the first sinner to ascend to Heaven parallels how Lucifer, who is symbolized by a serpent, was one of the first angels cast down into Hell. When asked if Sir Pentious wants or has family members, Vivziepop said she didn't think he had any family, but that there's a part of him that does really want family, although it is definitely something he wouldn't admit to, despite being "a lonely boy"

• Scientific knowledge - As shown when Sir Pentious tried to escape Heaven in "Storyteller", Sir Pentious possess considerable scientific knowledge and skills. As shown when he had attempted to create a machine to allow him to return to Hell, with Sir Pentious stating that he used quantum physics and enriched uranium to design his machine, though it did end up exploding after a few moments of use. • Mechanical engineering - Sir Pentious has a talent for designing and building extremely advanced machinery. • Baking - Sir Pentious is adept at baking, making tasty cookies with form and design. • Weapon mastery - Sir Pentious is able to use his inventions and machinery to his advantage, he is skilled enough to slam Angel Dust to the ground by grappling him with a chain, although he can still be easily defeated by stronger opponents like Alastor.

When asked about his backstory by The Speaker of God, he told about how he was once a reclusive inventor in London with no social life, and was to be a bystander to an abhorrent crime of murder, wherin he knew the murderer as one of his clients, but did not act on this information, leading to the deaths of 5 other women, and the murderer never being caught. It could be inferred that he was voyeuristic and shy, while also cowardly or apathetic. Thanks to his friendship with Charlie, Sir Pentious developed a wiser and more self-assured personality. Seeing Sera waver in her decisions regarding Vox's rebellion, Sir Pentious gently helps her, using Charlie's compassion she taught him as a guide and helping her choose a better future for both kingdoms.

Sr. Pentious, now redeemed in Heaven, is calm, polite, and soft-spoken. He still keeps his eccentric inventor personality, but all his machines are harmless and angelic. He cherishes the letters Cherri Bomb sends him from Hell, showing his emotional and nostalgic side. He follows Heaven’s rules closely and works hard to stay well-behaved. His new Egg Boiz, gifted to him by Emily, are his companions, and he cares for them warmly. His demeanor is gentle, innocent, and sweet, with no hint of his former villainous behavior. When Charlie forgives him, he is grateful and fully joins in his redemptive effort. At first, however, he had trust issues since he felt like everybody being nice to him in the Hotel was an act to get him. Additionally, he is enthusiastic about Charlie and Vaggie's activities, more so than Angel Dust, even if it began as an act. He strives to be hip and cool. As Angel Dust noted, Sir Pentious is oblivious to sexual innuendos and tends to take things he is told very literally. He is emotionally attached to Egg Boiz and breaks down crying because Vaggie forced him to get rid of them. Humorously, the moment he retrieves them, he briefly expresses his relief and then orders them to make his bed. When it comes to Egg Boiz from him, he is used to the fact that they have always said "random nonsense" all the time, causing a huge downfall for him and his friends when one of them, Frank, actually said something, which was true; that an angel was killed. When his dream of relevance was destroyed by Vox, he preferred death, however, Charlie forgave him and gave him a second chance, allowing Sir Pentious to truly settle into the Hotel. Here, he was able to adopt a more courageous nature, confess his feelings for Cherri Bomb, and protect his new friends, leading him to sacrifice himself for them in a failed attack on Adam, though through this he gained entry to Heaven as the first sinner to be redeemed.

Calm, polite, and genuinely gentle, In Heaven, Sr. Pentious behaves in a much calmer, softer, and more polite manner. He no longer yells or acts like a theatrical villain. His posture and facial expressions are relaxed and kind. This makes his new personality: • Calm • Respectful • Soft-spoken • Modest Still eccentric, but harmless. He still maintains his quirky and dramatic charm, but without any evil or chaotic intent. His animations and gestures remain expressive, just in a sweet and harmless way now. Still loves Inventing. After his ascension to Heaven as a winner angel, Sir Pentious retains his snake-like appearance, albeit his body color is predominantly blue. His eyes now have yellow sclera with cerise pupils and he retained his mouth full of sharp yellow teeth with two long snake-like fangs. His tail is light grey with a lighter shade of grey underneath and lacks the eyes his sinner form had. His white cobra hood has its front colored yellow with six jagged points and white tips that have eye-like markings. Sir Pentious wears a now predominantly white jacket that retained its yellow pinstripes, along with a black bow tie with a cerise heart in the center. Beneath the jacket was a long-sleeved yellow undershirt with a single white eye at the center. He retains his fingerless gloves, albeit now in blue, and sharp cerise claws. He accessorizes with a large white top hat, which has a sizeable yellow eye in the center of it, as well as a pair of yellow heart shaped glasses with cerise pupils, and a white halo floating above.

Pendleton, more commonly known as Sir Pentious, is a Winner Angel and former sinner demon and a former antagonist, now one of the main characters who made his debut in the pilot of Hazbin Hotel. He is the first Sinner to be redeemed. He was a Victorian era demon striving to be modern and cool and has a passion for building steampunk machines of destruction.[8] His goal in the pilot was to conquer Hell using his machines and army of Egg Boiz. After being forgiven by Charlie Morningstar in "Radio Killed the Video Star", he became the second sinner the Hotel was attempting to redeem. As is revealed in "Storyteller", in life, Sir Pentious was a reclusive inventor living in London, whose sin that condemned him to Hell was remaining resilient and silent about not reporting the murders of women committed by one of his clients. After sacrificing himself for his friends in "The Show Must Go On", Sir Pentious was reborn as a winner angel and transported to Heaven, becoming the first known sinner to undergo redemption. Due to his heroic actions for aiding Charlie and Emily in saving Hell from annihilation and preventing a devasting war with Heaven, he had become a hero to heaven and an inspiration to hell. He was given the title "First Redeemed" by the Hazbin Hotel staff as he has proven Charlie's dream of redemption was truly possible and attainable for any sinner that want to change for the better.

He also cannot die from any kind of damage to the body, and will recover from any injury, however, he can only be permanently killed with angelic weaponry. • Prehensile tail - As demonstrated in the pilot, Sir Pentious can hold, squeeze, and throw things with his tail, including his own Egg Boiz. • Omnidirectional vision - Sir Pentious has eyes scattered across his body which allows him to see in different directions.
