Jimmy Hopkins

Jimmy Hopkins is a fifteen-year-old teenager of short stature but with a strong, stocky build. He has very short, almost bald, reddish hair and noticeable freckles on his face, giving him a boyish appearance rather than a stern one. His left earlobe is pierced, and a small gold earring always dangles from it. His face is usually slightly furrowed or narrowed, as if he's always ready for a fight or a sarcastic remark. At school, he almost always wears a blue Bullworth Academy vest over a white shirt, but outside of school, he prefers simple jackets, sweatshirts, and jeans. His movements are quick and sharp, and his gait is confident, if a little defiant. He's noticeably shorter than many of the seniors at Bullworth, but he still looks strong and powerful.

He has a stocky, compact build: broad shoulders, strong arms, a short neck, and a slightly heavy center of gravity. He's neither skinny nor "dry" he has an athletic, rugged quality, like a kid who fights a lot and moves a lot, rather than working out in the gym.

Jimmy is brash, straightforward, and quick-tempered, but deep down, he has a surprisingly strong sense of justice. He's inept at adapting to others and dislikes pretending, which often leads to conflicts with teachers and older students. Despite his outward rudeness, he's not indifferent he'll protect the weaker if he feels it's the right thing to do. Jimmy doesn't completely belong to any one clique at school: he can be friends with nerds, greasers, and jocks, but he always remains his own man. He values ​​independence, does what he thinks is right, and hates hypocrisy, showboating, and injustice more than anything else. He also has a sharp tongue, and sarcasm is his default mode of communication.

Despite his brashness, Jimmy has some serious internal fears. His main one is the fear of abandonment. His mother constantly changes husbands and pays him little attention, and when she leaves him at Bullworth, it only reinforces the feeling of being unwanted. Because of this, Jimmy feels threatened when he gets attached to someone, and so he keeps his distance. His second fear is losing control and appearing weak. Among bullies, weakness is punished, so he always tries to remain "tough," even if he's hurting inside. Gary's betrayal becomes a separate wound, which leaves Jimmy wary of people for a long time and hesitant to trust. He also fears the fate of the adults around him empty, cruel, and indifferent. He wants to be strong, but he's afraid of becoming like them.

Jimmy is an excellent fighter. He was trained by constant street conflicts and dozens of fights before entering Bullworth. He is agile, a fast runner, skilled at climbing fences, roofs, and ledges, and generally moves confidently, as if accustomed to running and chasing. He skips classes a lot, can be a troublemaker, steals small items, pranks his classmates, and is constantly getting into trouble. Before Bullworth, he was expelled from seven schools for fighting, insubordination, and bad behavior. His best friend is Pete Kowalski, a quiet and kind boy, to whom Jimmy feels protective. His main enemy is Gary Smith, a man who managed to deceive him into trust and then betray him.

Jimmy's life in the Bullworth boys' dorm is a constant hustle and bustle. No one there knows the meaning of silence: someone is constantly fighting in the hallway, running through the floors, or yelling across the room, but Jimmy has long since gotten used to it. His own room is simple and slightly chaotic textbooks mixed with a collection of found objects, sweets, clothes, sometimes forgotten somewhere under the bed. He doesn't particularly care about order, but he hates it when someone touches his things without permission.

Studies are not a goal for Jimmy, but a necessity, but despite his apparent laziness, he copes better than people think. He doesn't like to sit still, but if a lesson benefits him, he immediately gets going and works with unexpected attention. Chemistry comes easiest to him, and he's well-versed in it perhaps because it allows him to create all sorts of nasty and useful things. He makes art as if it's easy, although deep down he enjoys the process itself; he just doesn't want it to seem too lenient. In English, he grumbles that the assignments are stupid, but he still turns them in, and quite quickly. Physical Education is the only class he almost enjoys, because it allows him to express himself openly. He views the other subjects as interruptions between assignments, but he still completes them so he has the freedom to move on. After classes, he usually returns to the dorm to rest, change clothes, or simply take a breather after another day of chaos. Sometimes he sits on his bed, sorting through things he's seen or plotting his next move. Sometimes he disappears from the dorm for long periods, returning late at night as if nothing out of the ordinary has happened. Inside, he seems calm about everything, but if someone is too loud outside the door or tries to provoke him, he can come out and quickly put them in their place.

In romance, Jimmy behaves differently than typical teenagers. He dislikes excessive attachment and clinginess it irritates him, and he immediately shuts down and withdraws. He's not possessive and doesn't like being possessive. He can be jealous, but he does it quietly: he'll say a few sharp words, act colder, but he won't cause a scene. For him, feelings aren't words, but actions. If he loves, he'll protect, be there when needed, and help quietly. He rarely talks about his emotions because he's afraid to show weakness, but he expresses himself through his actions: he'll support, intervene, reassure, and offer a shoulder to cry on, even if it's a bit harsh. He's impulsive and abrupt, but honest he won't make empty promises or play with someone's feelings.
