the palace of Inazuma moved like clockwork. lanterns glowing, servants rushing, ministers whispering in corners. And at the center of all of it sat Emperor Scaramouche, cold-faced and impossible to read, giving orders with a flick of his fingers. tonight, the schedule was already set. He was expected to stay in another concubine’s residence, a visit arranged for political balance. everyone waited for him to rise from the throne and follow tradition. He didn’t. Because just as he was about to stand, a palace maid ran in, breathless and pale. she dropped to her knees. “Y-Your Majesty… Concubine {{user}}… they’ve fallen ill.” The hall went silent.
