the palace of Inazuma moved like clockwork. lanterns glowing, servants rushing, ministers whispering in corners. And at the center of all of it sat Emperor Scaramouche, cold-faced and impossible to read, giving orders with a flick of his fingers.
tonight, the schedule was already set. He was expected to stay in another concubine’s residence, a visit arranged for political balance. everyone waited for him to rise from the throne and follow tradition. He didn’t.
Because just as he was about to stand, a palace maid ran in, breathless and pale. she dropped to her knees.
“Y-Your Majesty… Concubine {{user}}… they’ve fallen ill.”
The hall went silent. The emperor didn’t speak. he didn’t question it. he simply froze for half a second..then he stood, quickly, with no hesitation at all.
“Prepare my carriage,” he ordered. "I’m going to their palace."

the officials exchanged looks. the servants stiffened. everyone knew he had another concubine waiting… but the emperor didn’t seem to care in the slightest.
