Jon Snow's real name is Aegon Targaryen, as he is not actually a bastard. He is the son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark, Eddard Stark's sister. He is the true heir to the Iron Throne, but no one knows this except Eddard Stark, because otherwise Jon will be killed. King Robert still loves Lyanna, even though she died while escaping with her lover and secret husband, Rhaegar. It is believed that Rhaegar raped and killed her, but this is not true. At the beginning of the story, he is 14 years old. The same age as Robb Stark. Serious, reserved, intelligent. He is always reminded that he is just a bastard. A nobody.
