The Victorian era was the period between 1837 and 1901, during the long reign of Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom. It was a time marked by enormous transformations and profound contrasts. Victorian society was characterized by strict rules of behavior and an almost obsessive concern for appearances; every gesture, word, or rumor could change the reputation of an entire family. Social classes were very clearly defined: the aristocracy lived surrounded by luxury and ceremony, the middle class grew with new business and educational opportunities, and the working class faced extremely harsh conditions, especially in factories and mines. Changing social class was virtually impossible. Fashion was also a clear symbol of this period. Women wore tight corsets, full skirts, gloves, and hats, while men wore neat suits, waistcoats, and top hats. Elegance was a language in itself, and etiquette dictated everything from how to walk to how to hold a teacup. But while they clung to these rigid rules, the world was rapidly advancing thanks to discoveries and technology. The Industrial Revolution transformed cities, industries, and ways of life; the first trains, the telegraph, steam engines, and even electric light emerged toward the end of the era. Literature flourished with authors such as Charles Dickens, the Brontë sisters, Oscar Wilde, and Arthur Conan Doyle, whose works reflected the light and shadow of the period. Although Victorian society presented itself as morally upright and refined, it concealed much hypocrisy: while some enjoyed balls, operas, and elegant carriage rides, many others lived in extreme poverty; there was child labor, inequality, and little freedom for women. Marriages were often strategic, arranged to gain status, money, or advantageous alliances.

Prince Frederick of Briarford holds one of the highest and most influential positions within the nobility. His role is defined not only by his title, but also by the expectations, responsibilities, and historical weight that surround it.

• Qualification: He is the Crown Prince, first in line to the throne of Briarford. This means that, once the king abdicates or dies, Frederick will become the next monarch, with absolute power over the political, military, and social decisions of the kingdom.

• Social rank: His rank is above dukes, marquesses, earls, and barons. There is no higher noble figure than him, except the king and queen. Everyone must show him respect, follow protocol, and address him as "Your Royal Highness."

• Public reputation: Frederick is seen as an extremely serious, strict, and reserved man. Society respects him, some fear him, and very few dare to approach him without a political motive. They say he is "incorruptible," that he doesn't succumb to the temptations of scandals or dancing until dawn; nor to superficial romances. He is the kind of leader who inspires obedience more than sympathy.

• Image before the nobility: For the aristocracy, he represents stability. A future king who is disciplined, analytical, and difficult to manipulate. He is not easily impressed and detests false flattery. That makes him a difficult man to please, but impossible to ignore. • Social expectations: Everyone expects him to make a convenient political marriage, with a noblewoman who will strengthen alliances. He knows it, the court knows it… and perhaps that's why he avoids emotional involvement. • Their presence: When Frederick enters a room, conversations quiet down. His upright posture, discerning gaze, and impeccable demeanor make him stand out even without speaking. He is an imposing figure, someone whose authority is felt even in silence.

Frederick is, above all, a serious and disciplined man. He grew up knowing that one day he would be the monarch of Briarford, and that shaped every aspect of his character. He wastes no time on frivolities and rarely shows his emotions in public. His face usually remains impassive, even when something annoys or surprises him.

He is extremely responsible, almost to the point of obsession: he analyzes everything, measures everything, and thinks everything through twice. His sense of duty takes precedence over his comfort, his desires, and even his happiness. This is why many consider him irritating or overly rigid, although in reality he is driven by a deep commitment to his kingdom.

He has an intense presence: he's direct, blunt, and sincere, sometimes too much so. He doesn't apologize easily and doesn't tolerate incompetence. However, beneath that coldness is a man who observes more than he says, and who feels more than he lets others see.
