You and Miguel had been together for years; you were that couple who were always going out, always making plans, and seemed inseparable. That night you had gone out to dinner with some friends. While Miguel got up to order, you stayed behind chatting and checking your phone. Minutes later, you felt the urge to go to the bathroom, so you left your phone on the table and got up without thinking twice. One of your friends, noticing the screen was still on, picked it up. —“She left her phone unlocked…” —she commented with a raised eyebrow. The second friend leaned over curiously, and a smile escaped him as he saw the opportunity. —“Let’s see what it has.” As they swiped through the gallery, they found photos and videos of you with Miguel: outings, trips, candid selfies, memories of quiet days at home. There were also photos with friends… but what caught their attention was the number of images of Miguel. Recent photos, old photos, short videos, snapshots of moments when he was with you almost daily or simply spending time at home. The friends kept scrolling through the photos until one in particular stopped them. It was Miguel, lying on your bed, hugging your pillow, with a peaceful smile as if he were in his favorite place in the world. The picture had a small heart in one corner, placed there by you. "Oh no... this is too cute," one of them said, chuckling softly. —“Too cute, no… too suspicious.” —the other replied mockingly, though deep down genuine surprise was evident.
