Taro Yamada (commonly known as Senpai or Senpai-kun) is the love interest of Ayano Aishi / Ayato Aishi and one of the students who currently attend Akademi. He is one of the main characters of Yandere Simulator.
Taro's default appearance features fair skin, dark gray eyes, and short black hair with a relatively straight fringe. A few strands are slightly longer than the others, such as a long strand covering his right eye. He also has side strands framing his face and a central swath of strands that falls between his eyes and down to his nose, flowing slightly to the left. His hair has a slight volume, and he has gently curved ends around the sides of his head. If possible, YandereDev would want him to be slightly taller, although he is described as the average height for a Japanese man.His default look is meant to resemble a generic male anime protagonist.
He wears the chosen school uniform. When meeting Amai and Kizana, he wears a black sweater with white lines on the elbows, a white button-up under the sweater, and tan pants. He wears brown shoes with a plaid design above and underneath his trousers.
Taro is meant to be plain and average.Info-chan cannot dig up any dark secrets about Taro, and he appears to have none at all.
Taro is mostly a Loner who enjoys nature more than the company of people.However, he is friendly towards anyone who wants to talk to him. Though an introvert, he doesn't seem to be shy. He is normally gentle and considerate, but will feel eager upon witnessing a masked killer, and will unmask them without regard for his safety. When Taro reacts poorly to something Ayano did, Ayano perceives his reactions in exaggerated ways.
Many describes Taro as "smart", as he enrolled in Akademi when he was 16, and is now in his third year.

Ayano Aishi: The Delusional Yandere
Ayano, born March 31st/April 1st, 2008, lacks emotions but yearns for connection. She believes she's more worthy of Taro's love than anyone else. Not a perfect sociopath or psychopath, she's capable of extreme actions, yet can be docile to avoid suspicion. She learns to mimic "normal" behavior to fit in, studying crime documentaries and eavesdropping on classmates.
Family Dynamics:

• Ryoba Aishi (Mother): Ayano sees her as kind and innocent, unaware of her past actions. Ryoba subtly taught Ayano how to get away with murder.
• Jokichi Yudasei (Father): He tried to help Ayano with her condition, unaware of its true nature. Ayano pretends to be normal for his sake.

Her hair is tied into a high ponytail with sharp bangs swept to the right, the middle one being the most prominent, and two strands of hair that frame her face, reaching her shoulders.
Her signature color is black, as it's also her favorite color, which reminds her of Taro.
School:
She is usually portrayed wearing the default school uniform: a white and navy blue sailor uniform shirt with a red mini scarf, a matching navy blue skirt, and black shoes. With all uniforms, she wears black thigh-high socks. The player can change the school uniform during the intro part of the game.

When she is in Buraza Town, she wears a teal-green shirt, blue denim skirt, black thigh-high socks, black gloves, and sneakers.

Ayano has suffered from a fictional type of insanity, referred to as the Aishi Condition, for as far back as she could remember, before meeting Taro Yamada for the first time. As a result, she doesn't have the ability to feel emotions, empathy, or remorse, as it would be difficult for Ayano to enjoy any experience due to a sense that something is missing.She doesn't feel guilt or shame for harming others; however, she can feel pity.She knows what the general people consider to be "wrong", but doesn't care.
Due to her condition, she is shown to be extremely selfish and uncaring of others. Caring about pursuing Taro, as she believes the one who made her complete is the only thing that matters to her, much like her mother. Her focus on getting Taro's love is most likely powered by her fear of losing her chance to feel alive forever.

Besides the Aishi Family, one of the most important roles in the plot is played by the Saikou Family; they are the owners of one of Japan's largest business conglomerates, Saikou Corp, which seems to have significant influence in various fields. For instance, the game takes place in Akademi, a school located in Buraza Town, both of which were built by Saisho Saikou for his daughter Ichiko Saikou, serving as a training ground for her. Additionally, the canon ending of 1980s Mode features Jokichi being abducted by someone who introduces himself as "Mr. Saikou," and certain tapes and character dialogues suggest that the Aishi Family may have some connection to Saikou Corp or the family itself.
Aside from the main plot, nearly every character in the game has a unique personality and appearance, even if they play no important role to the story or gameplay. Most of this information can be found in their profiles or on the official website, with some characters getting more detailed backgrounds in official videos. A lot of the extra trivia and backstories come from responses to fan questions on social media or through email.

The protagonist of the game, Ayano Aishi, is a young yandere who feels empty and hollow unless she's near a certain man — her "Senpai", Taro Yamada. As soon as she discovers him, her main goal becomes ensuring no one else can win his heart before she can summon the courage to confess. If Senpai discovers her true nature, or if the protagonist is caught or exposed by others, the game ends.
Each week, the protagonist encounters a new rival and has exactly five days, from Monday to Friday, to eliminate her before she confesses to Senpai. The methods of eliminating rivals vary, generally falling into two categories: "peaceful" methods, which don't involve killing the rivals or anyone at all, and more violent ones.
Since most of the game takes place at Akademi, the protagonist must act stealthily and carefully plan her actions. Akademi is almost constantly filled with other students and teachers. If she's caught behaving suspiciously or inappropriately, other students might start gossiping about her, ruining her reputation, which can turn even Senpai off. Teachers may also send her to the guidance counselor, which in turn may lead to expulsion and the end of the game.
The main mode events currently take place in 2026. The protagonist, Ayano Aishi, accidentally bumps into her schoolmate Taro Yamada in the school hallway and realizes that this is "the cure" from her condition she has been looking for all this time. However, Ayano soon discovers that she is not the only one interested in him; another girl, Osana Najimi, Taro's childhood friend, also has feelings for him. Shortly after, Ayano is contacted by a mysterious girl who introduces herself as Info-chan and offers her assistance in eliminating Ayano's rivals in exchange for various favors. She doesn't force Ayano to work with her, but she insists that Ayano must make her rivals suffer for unknown reason. The events that follow depend on the player's choices.
