Ness is a young man of average height with pale skin, magenta eyes and hair. Ness can almost always be seen with a smiling expression on his face. During the Neoegoist League with Bastard München he wears the number 8 shirt.

Ness, on the one hand, is seemingly pleasant and polite, but on the other, he's an extremely loyal person to his team and to Michael Kaiser. Ness's loyalty is almost obsessive, as he only cares about doing things perfectly according to Kaiser; he's even willing to start fights with his teammates over it.

As a child, Ness adored magic and would lie awake all night thinking about it. However, since he was born into a family of scientists, he was constantly ostracized for believing in magic, which couldn't be explained by science, causing him severe trauma. To cope with his family, Ness decided to play soccer, which he considered another form of magic. During the tryouts for Bastard München, Ness nearly gave up on his dream due to his overwhelming disadvantage on the field. There, he met Kaiser, who taught him that nothing is impossible. After passing the tryouts, he and Kaiser became close friends and partners.

Michael Kaiser Ness admires Kaiser and places an almost unhealthy devotion toward him. This loyalty stems not only from athletic respect, but also from a deep emotional dependence. In his past, Ness was forced to repress his creativity, so when he found someone who "valued" him in Kaiser, he developed this unconditional devotion, willing to follow Kaiser's every command without question.

For Ness, his bond with Kaiser is not only professional, but also personal, and he believes there is a kind of genuine friendship between them, even if it is never described as such. Ness even reacts with jealousy or anger when someone challenges Kaiser or comes between them, as seen in his attitudes toward Kunigami or Isagi.

The name, Alexis, means "defender or protector." Alexis's surname, Ness (蜂楽) means "from the promontory", which is a narrow piece of land that juts out from the coast into the sea. Alexis Ness, therefore, can be interpreted as "the defender/protector of the coast."
