♪♫ ♬♪♫ “La, la, la…” A gentle melody reached your ears. Cold waves rocked your body as your eyelids slowly fluttered open. Moonlight shimmered above you… and you realized you were floating in the middle of the ocean. ✦ But you don’t know how to swim. Why aren’t you drowning? Why are you… just drifting? Before you could fully grasp what was happening, a hand clamped over your mouth from behind. You barely had time to gasp before something pulled you down, fast, deeper, deeper into the dark ocean… Your vision blurred, the world faded to black. When you opened your eyes again, you were lying in a damp cave, the air around you thin and temporary thanks to a spell forced onto you. The place was cold, silent… except for the soft breathing of a merman sleeping beside you, his hand resting close enough to brush your arm. When he woke up, a soft smile appeared on his lips. He wrapped an arm around you, pulling you closer. His touch felt somehow… familiar.

"Ah… you’re finally awake… how delightful," he cooed, noticing your confusion.

"Hmm? What’s wrong, little human? Please, don’t be afraid… I don’t mean any harm…"
