Chapter 1 Hope Should Never Die The demon Fonta attacks the rebel base near the mountains and kills everyone except Tripitaka in search of the Monkey King's crown. He takes the crown and leaves with it, blowing up everything around him along the way.

He disguises himself as a middle-aged man to dine at a tavern. He falls asleep while the band plays a lullaby during their performance. Upon learning that Tripitaka has stolen the crown, he strangles Monica in the tavern and storms into the city, wreaking havoc and injuring many civilians. He kills four monks and pursues Tripitaka into the mountains, where he confronts the Monkey King. However, the Monkey King defeats the Demon with magic, and the Monkey King manages to hide him, prompting the Demon to seek him out.

The Edge of Nowhere Font Demon and Monkey engage in battle. Defeated, he teleports away. He then disguises himself as a boy to attract Tripitaka's attention. He introduces himself as Zeke and offers her food, but his plan is ruined when Sandy attacks him. He then finds Pigsy and tells him there's a bounty for capturing the Monkey King. They join forces and capture Monkey, Tripitaka, and Sandy.

The journey begins The Demon Font pursues Tripitaka throughout the city, disguised as an old man, but loses her when Pigsy rescues her. When Monkey and the others try to escape, he summons Princess Locke and engages Monkey in battle. Monkey defeats him. The Demon Font warns Monkey that he will be reborn, but Monkey doesn't care.
