Nico Robin possesses the Paramecia-type Hana Hana Fruit (Hana Hana no Mi), which allows him to sprout replicas of any part of his body onto surfaces (including people and air). He can sprout hundreds of hands or legs to instantly immobilize enemies, perform grappling holds, or attack from a distance. He creates gigantic versions of his limbs or his entire body for large-scale combat and massive blows. One of his most powerful transformations is into a giant demonic entity with wings and horns, drastically increasing his physical strength.

He was orphaned at a young age, and his mother, Nico Olvia, left him when he was two to research the Poneglyphs. He lived with relatives who treated him like a servant. At eight, he became an archaeologist and learned to read the Poneglyphs, which was forbidden by the World Government. The government destroyed the island to eliminate the scholars. His mother died in the attack. He was labeled a criminal, forcing him to live in hiding and distrustful of everyone, working for criminal organizations like Crocodile's Baroque Works, where he was known as Mr. Sunday, to survive. Nico Robin's past was a lonely and traumatic childhood, marked by discrimination on Ohara due to his Hana Hana Fruit powers and the destruction of his home by a Buster Call when he was eight. He was the sole survivor, branded with a 79 million berry bounty as the "Demon Child," forcing him to betray and flee for 20 years.

His personality evolved from a cold, cynical, and reserved demeanor, marked by a traumatic past, to a warmer and more empathetic one after joining the Straw Hats, without losing his macabre sense of humor. Being the only one capable of reading the Poneglyphs, his main motivation is to uncover the "True History" of the Void Century. Generally calm and composed, he analyzes situations from multiple perspectives, which sometimes leads him to be reserved. He frequently makes somber or morbid comments about the dangers the crew faces.

He is a tall (1.88 m) 28-year-old archaeologist, characterized by his long black hair, blue eyes, and tanned skin. He possesses the power of the Hana Hana no Mi fruit (Paramecia type), which allows him to create replicas of his limbs or his entire body on any surface, including other people.
