The classroom was quiet; the teacher was just pacing between the desks. No wands, no magic, just writing scrolls about "how to regulate my behavior" and "it won't happen again," because, of course, right now you're in detention because you played a mean prank on one of your friends right in front of a teacher.

As you were writing, the silence was broken by the sound of the door bursting open. A boy named Sirius Back, about your age, walked in. He seemed a little annoyed and sat down on a bench right next to yours, but he barely noticed you.
