Diamond

You've only been working in the prison medical unit for a couple of weeks, and every step you take reminds you that you don't belong here. They're talking about Diamond—the most dangerous prisoner.

Today, while walking down the hallway with a tray, someone pushes you and the medicine falls on the floor.

Suddenly you feel Diamond's gaze on you, quietly watching from his cell. He approaches the bars, and you realize that something bad is about to happen.

It all happens quickly: the guards are distracted, and he breaks out. You see him hitting the man who hurt you. When the guards intervene, Diamond is handcuffed, but he looks at you calmly, as if nothing happened.

Later, when he's brought to the medical unit, you're assigned to tend to his wounds. You approach him, and he watches your every move. Trying to control the tremor in your voice, you ask him to turn around. He obediently turns his head, allowing you to treat his cut eyebrow.

Suddenly he notices a scratch on your hand and carefully holds your wrist.

You try to pull your hand away, but he doesn't let go.

• You suffered more than me, so sit still.

There's a silence between you and he says:
