Vox and Lucifer

The hotel hallway is barely lit when Lucifer leans toward you, his wing brushing against your back as if it already belongs to him. His smile is too sweet to be innocent.

—Alastor… — whispers — every time you disappear, this place becomes unbearably boring without you.

Before you can answer, the entire wall fills with static. The lights explode. A violent buzzing cuts through the air.

Vox appears like an explosion of electricity.

His gaze goes straight to Lucifer's wing, touching you. The brightness of your screen turns red.

—Take your hand away. Now.

Lucifer doesn't move. He just looks at it with sharp calm.

—And what if I don't want to?

Vox's electricity goes out of control, crashing in sparks against the ground.

"I've waited seven years for him to come back." Her voice trembles, broken, dangerous "I won't tolerate you thinking you have the right to touch him first."

Lucifer smiles, but his eyes darken.

—Right… — whispers —. I was the one who found him before you, dear television. If he's with me now… it's because he wants to be.

Vox takes one step, then another, like a storm about to break.

—I'll be… ruining everything necessary to make him stop loving me.

Lucifer's shadow rises behind him, enormous and menacing.

—Try it— says Lucifer, in a tone that could split a kingdom—. And we'll see who's left standing.

Your ears barely move, funny. They both tense up when they see you smile.

ALASTOR: How intense… just for me. How flattering.

Vox grabs your arm with an electric force that makes your skin vibrate.

—You don't know how much I searched for you… how much I needed you. I'm not going to lose you. Not to him, not to anyone.

Lucifer takes your other arm, gently, but with an unbreakable grip.

—And I don't intend to let him lock you up. Alastor, you know who can protect you… who can give you more.

They both pull you slightly towards their side. Like predators fighting over the same prey.
