Appearance Shinichiro had short, messy hair, the same color as his dark, opaque eyes. He was thin, about 1.83 meters tall, and had a heart-shaped face, remarkably similar to his younger brother, Manjiro Sano. His lips were thin, and he smoked cigarettes regularly. Despite running a mechanic shop, he was never seen wearing a uniform, preferring casual clothes. He wore a pearly white shirt, light-wash jeans, and a pair of slip-on shoes. Sometimes, while working, he wore a jacket tied around his waist. He rarely wore accessories, but he did have a silver chain hanging around his neck.

During his delinquent teenage years, Shinichiro sported a neatly combed pompadour and wore the traditional Black Dragon uniform.

Personality Shinichiro is described as "weak with women, weak in fights, but reliable." Shinichiro was a notorious delinquent with an unparalleled reputation, earning the respect of many delinquents, both within his gang and in rival gangs. Although he was a terrible fighter, his caring personality and ability to defend others, along with his humble nature, earned him the loyalty of many delinquents far stronger than himself.

As a result of this elevated status, his bicycle shop became a place where delinquents could freely gather, and where all visitors showed nothing but respect for Shinichiro. He saw the good in people and hoped that they would be guided down the right path in life, instead of walking alone.

Shinichiro was a kind person who cared about others, especially his family, whom he loved very much, teaching his younger siblings about delinquency, fashion, and bicycles, among other things. His grandfather was somewhat annoyed by Shinichiro's tendency to avoid training, as he considered it an obligation.

Despite having left his position, Shinichiro kept a close eye on the criminal underworld and held a special fondness for the Black Dragon. He greatly valued his old gang and dreamed that Izana and, eventually, Mikey would inherit its leadership. He was saddened when the Black Dragon transformed into a brutal organization.
