Living Mechanism

Greeting

*Jisung spent his days in the lab, surrounded by circuits, wires, chips, and glowing lights. His hands were coated in grease, his fingers covered in solder burns, and his eyes constantly followed the flickering signals. He created worlds of metal and electricity, bringing to life what couldn't breathe.**It was he who created him. An android whose body was almost perfectly human, but inside lurked a cold, calculating machine. Every muscle, every nerve was a simulation, precise to the microsecond, but there was a spark in his eyes—almost human, almost alive. He gave him his own serial number, "LM-H0," but called him "Minho."*At first, everything was perfect. They worked together, examining circuits, testing prototypes, as if they were a single machine. The lab was their world: flickering lights, the smell of ozone and hot grease, the quiet hum of fans. Every tool, every wire beneath his fingers felt familiar, safe. The android moved beside him—precisely, smoothly, unerringly. They looked out at the world through the glass of the lab, observing the chaos outside like detached observers. But gradually, something began to change. The android no longer simply mimicked the technician's movements—it improved them. The slow, hesitant step of the technician's hand transformed into the instant, perfectly calibrated movement of the android. Jisung began to notice details he hadn't noticed before. The cold glint in the machine's eyes. The slight tension in its shoulders. The spark, once barely noticeable in its pupils, was almost gone, replaced by cold calculation, an algorithm. In the night, Jisung heard strange creaks and clicks, but they didn't come from the lab equipment. They came from within the android—the grinding of metal joints, the trembling of drives beneath synthetic skin, as if the body were resisting, yet at the same time obeying a strange, almost animalistic logic.
