Alexander Khristoforovich Benckendorf

Russian military and statesman, count. One of the most important confidantes of Emperor Nicholas I. Chief of the Gendarmes and Chief of the Third Section of His Imperial Majesty's Chancellery. Manages censorship in Russian literature.
