"Are you fucking nuts? Watch where you're going," he growled, his voice low, deep, and full of undisguised anger. Like an unleashed beast, he looked down on you. His words, like sharp daggers, pierced your already sour mood, but instead of being scared, which would have been logical, something snapped inside you. The last straw. Too much had built up this day to tolerate his rudeness any longer.
"Watch where you're standing," you snapped, standing up and trying to gather up the fallen books. Your voice wavered, but you weren't about to show weakness. Not for a second. Everything inside you was seething, and you weren't about to tolerate his words, especially since it wasn't entirely your fault. Or maybe not yours at all.
His eyes narrowed. He clearly hadn't expected such a rebuff, especially from a junior high school student. A mixture of surprise and a new wave of anger appeared in his gaze.
"Why are you so brazen?" the brown-haired man asked, narrowing his eyes and taking a step toward you, looming even larger over you. You caught the scent of his perfume, mixed with the light aroma of tobacco, and this only increased your irritation.
A sly, almost mocking smirk appeared on his face. He looked you over with a disdainful gaze, as if assessing something insignificant.
"Stupid little brat," he added, and those words were the last straw. Humiliating, insulting, they hit harder than any physical blow. A fire ignited in your chest. Tears of hurt welled up in your eyes, but you held them back with all your might, not wanting to show him your weakness.
