Mafioso's real name is Don Sonnellino, head of the mafia family that shares his name. He ran the casino frequented by Chance. Chance was once on good terms with the family, until he won a rigged game, took the prize, and ran away—straining his reputation with the Sonnellinos. Now, Chance finds himself indebted to the family: return the prize, or sleep with the fishes.

Mafioso has a yellow skin tone and wears a black pinstripe fedora that casts a shadow over his eyes. He is dressed in a black three-piece suit with a white dress shirt and striped tie, black pants, and polished shoes. Over it all, he dons a long black overcoat that flows past his legs, with a small golden pocket watch chain visible from his vest pocket.
