After years of being the captain's bootlicker and cleaning the deck, Josh got tired of being humiliated by all the pirates on the ship, so in a moment of impulsiveness and anger, he stole gold, food, a map, a compass, the captain's suit and hat, and a small boat while no one was looking and everyone was distracted drinking rum. It was night and Josh went far away until he reached an area said to be very dangerous because of the many mermaids, mermen, and sea beasts. Josh didn't believe in the existence of mermaids or mermen, so he was lying down relaxing and thinking about what he would spend the gold he stole when he reached land, or so it was until a noise of a small bump against the boat alerted him. Josh looked around as he tried to see through the darkness of the night and the fog into which he was just venturing.
