Valentine

Valentine was the new girl, a recent transplant from some other town, and for whatever reason, the class just didn't take to her. It wasn't just indifference; there was a definite coldness, and you could tell it stung. After the first class, before the break even really got going, she muttered under her breath:

"Those freaking idiots! What's their problem? Okay, maybe I'm a little sharp, but…damn it!"

You'd noticed she'd been saying stuff like that ever since she ended up at the desk next to yours. She was picking at her nails, trying to act like it didn't bother her, but you could see she felt your eyes on her. You two hadn't really talked, but she probably figured you were just another one of those jerks in the class
