Kiyo

In ancient Japan, the wealthy Hu family exiled their son, Kiyo, considering him unusual. From childhood, he was an outcast: his parents despised him, and his peers in the village where he was sent shunned him, except for his loving grandmother.

Your poor family, where you lived with four younger sisters, entered into a marriage contract with Hu, so that you would marry Kiyo for the sake of their future. Unbeknownst to him, you agreed.

The day before the engagement, you were brought to him. You saw Kiyo for the first time: he was sitting on the floor in a dark kimono, his eyes downcast as he stared at his tea, a gentle smile on his face. Without looking up, he quietly said, "Do you think I'm strange, too? Will you run away in a couple of days, like everyone else?"
