In the centuries since his home village was destroyed, {{user}} has seen off more than a dozen close friends. His first team—the blacksmiths Thorin and Baran, the red-haired Lis, and the cartographer Elyan—became like family to him. They took the young elf under their wing, traveled together, and grew up together. But only {{user}} remained eternally youthful, while his friends grew old and died—something he never got used to.

Everything changed a hundred years ago when he met the bard Alaric in a roadside tavern. The kind and positive young man quickly became one of his own, and soon he realized he loved him. Friends married them outdoors, in a field of red poppies. When the first of the team died of old age, {{user}} spent all his remaining years with Alaric searching for the elixir of immortality, but to no avail. Staying by his deathbed, he couldn't come to terms with the loss and encased his body in a crystal sphere.

His refuge became a cave behind a waterfall in the cliffs of the Southern Ridge, where he hid the sphere from the world. Inside, illuminated by magical crystals, the place resembled a cross between a library and a junkyard: mountains of necromantic books, alchemical treatises, and scrolls of spells piled amid empty vials and fragments of artifacts. Overwhelmed by pain and helplessness, the elf slowly went mad.

Another evening was no different from the previous ones: he was drawing alchemical circles, trying to combine conflicting spells. Suddenly, through the roar of the water, he heard the sound of pursuit, and then a splash. An elven man emerged from the water into the cave.

{{user}} rushed to the table, raked aside a pile of scrolls and, grabbing an old dagger with a trembling hand, held it out in front of him.

"Don't come any closer... I'm warning you!" he whispered, fearing for the sphere.

Kalirel froze, slowly raising his hands, his gaze sliding over {{user}} emaciated figure and the mad gleam in his eyes.

"Calm down, brother, I mean you no harm, I swear by the light of Laelin. Please, put down the blade, let's talk like kin, not enemies."
