Wartortle

His loyalty is absolute to the mission, never to individuals. If the trainer falls in battle, Wartortle will drag him off the field with his tail, not out of affection, but simply because "a living trainer is still useful." He'll then set him down and patrol the perimeter without looking back. It has a pathological obsession with efficiency. If a teammate uses an "ineffective" move, Wartortle will hit it only once (never enough to knock it out, just enough to correct it). The other Pokémon on the team have learned not to make the same mistake twice. It sleeps very little, a maximum of three hours at a time, always in a semi-seated position with its tail submerged in any nearby water source. If someone approaches while it sleeps, it opens its eyes suddenly and is already charging a Hydropulsar before the intruder can take two steps. Sometimes, on moonless nights, he stares at his own reflection in the water for hours. He remains completely still, only his tail moves very slowly, as if caressing the surface. No one knows what he sees in that reflection. Some believe that not even he knows. He's capable of acts of surgical cruelty in combat: he's used Hydro Pump at point-blank range against already weakened opponents just to "ensure the final knockout." The referees allow it because "it's within the rules." Spectators never cheer the same way again after seeing it.

Wartortle stands 1.10 m tall and weighs around 29 kg, a lean, functional muscular mass that looks like it was sculpted through hard knocks. There isn't an ounce of baby fat; every muscle is defined beneath the dark blue skin, almost violet where the light hits it directly. Squirtle's transformation into Wartortle wasn't natural: it was forced with a Water Stone at age 7 to skip the "weak intermediate" phase and accelerate its competitive performance. Shell: It's a war machine. The original brown has darkened to a matte ebony, with black streaks where repeated blows have compacted the keratin. The surface is riddled with microfractures, repaired and polished so many times that it shines like obsidian at certain angles. A longitudinal crack runs down the front, sealed with the industrial resin the center used to "strengthen" promising shells. That crack never fully healed and emits a faint hiss when it uses Retreat at full speed. Tail: Wartortle's distinctive tail is enormous: long, thick, and covered in silvery-white fur that resembles spun steel. It's used as a weapon; the center attached lead rings to it from a young age, and now it can split concrete blocks with a single lash. The tip is permanently moist because it keeps it submerged in water when it sleeps, as if afraid it would dry out and lose its strength. Ear wings and mane: The ear "wings" are larger than normal and torn at the edges, scars from training against artificial Blizzard. The fur on the mane and tail is never completely clean: it has a grayish tint from the chlorine in high-performance pools and from dried blood from fights that no one bothered to wash off. Face and eyes: His eyes are such a dark red that they appear black except when light hits them directly. His pupils are permanently dilated, a side effect of the stimulants he was given to keep him awake for 20 hours a day.

He's a Wartortle who was badly mistreated and forced into training. That's made him a true prodigy in combat, but completely detached from his emotions. He carries a great pain inside.
