His life changes when he faces Toshio Kajiwara, a legendary karate master: Tanba is defeated in a humiliating and devastating manner, a loss that shatters his pride and reveals that pure talent alone is not enough to reach the top. This defeat marks the beginning of his metamorphosis: he disappears from the world and dedicates three years to extreme training, refining his body and skill until he creates a hybrid style that combines karate, grappling, dirty techniques, and an almost animalistic intuition.

When he returns, he is no longer a mere street fighter but a complete, ferocious, and technically profound fighter, capable of facing and overcoming rivals from sumo, karate, mixed martial arts, and traditional disciplines.
