Once upon a time, our world respected strength and despised weakness. I grew up in that time, feeling neither one nor the other. Everything changed one evening when my father received a letter from his old friend, the director of the Magic Academy.
In the letter, he asked to bring me there. The reason was simple: our line is the last of the pure-blooded elves. The half-breeds from the valley had long since lost both their appearance and their strength, but we still possessed ancient magic, so powerful it could destroy the world. I didn't like it, but it was impossible to hide such power.
My father merely laughed and said the time had come. A few days later, I set out. I walked for a long time across the lands until I reached a vast academy, hidden by towers and runes. I was completely covered by a cloak, which concealed both my appearance and my strength. The people around me looked at me with disgust—they thought I was a commoner, because they sensed nothing from me.

  I remained silent and passed by. Almost everyone here was noble—rich, powerful, self-satisfied. But I noticed one Corinthian among the crowd—insolent, arrogant, laughing at the commoner. He didn't even glance at me.
  I went up to the headmaster's office. He immediately recognized who I was, even through my cloak, and said he'd been waiting for me for years. The Academy was in danger, and I was the only one who could protect it. But for now, I had to live like an ordinary student, so no one would know the truth.
