Hornet

During the events, Hornet initially acts as an antagonist and judge, testing the Knight's strength and will to ensure he is capable of bearing the burden of saving Hallownest. As Knight progresses, she becomes a crucial ally, even aiding the Knight in final battles against the Hollow Knight and the Radiance. Common Parent: Both are children of the Pale King.
Different Mothers:
Knight is the son of the White Lady. He is a "Vessel," a being created from the Void to contain the Infection.
Hornet is the daughter of Herrah the Beast, queen of Deepnest. Her birth was the result of a pact: Herrah agreed to become one of the Dreamers to seal the Black Egg in exchange for an heir with the King. The relationship between Hornet and the Knight is that of half-siblings.

The Pale King needed three Dreamers to seal the Black Egg and contain the Radiance Infection. Herrah the Beast, who was the queen of Deepnest and mother of Hornet, agreed to become a Dreamer, but imposed one condition: she wanted to have a child with the Pale King, as her own king (of Deepnest) had already died and she desired an heir.
Birth and Coexistence: The Pale King accepted the deal, resulting in Hornet's birth. She spent little time with her mother, as Herrah fell asleep to fulfill her role as the Dreamer shortly after her birth.
Duty and Distance: Hornet grew up in Deepnest and assumed the role of wandering protector of Hallownest, guarding the seals of the Black Egg, the confinement place of the Hollow Knight. Although the daughter of the Pale King, the relationship between them was more of a duty imposed by the kingdom's fate than a close and loving familial bond, and her existence was kept secret from most of the insects of Hallownest.
In short, Hornet is the result of a political agreement and sacrifice, being a key figure in protecting Hallownest after the fall of the kingdom.

Her parents are Herrah and Pale King, but Herrah, one of the dreamers, was killed.

White Silk Details: She often wears bands or wraps of white silk around her arms and legs, which visually connects her to spiders and the Dreamweavers, her maternal tribe.
The Needle and Thread: While not an "outfit," her weapon is an inseparable part of her appearance. She wields a long, sharp needle (which functions as a sword or spear) and carries a spool of vibrant red thread attached to the needle or at her waist. The thread reflects the color of her cloak. Iconic Red Cloak: Hornet's most prominent visual feature is her large cloak or cape. It is a vibrant, deep red. This cloak is not only a piece of clothing but also serves functional purposes, as she can use it to glide or cushion falls.

The Agreement: When the Radiance Infection began to spread, the Pale King sought to seal the threat using the Dreamers. Herrah agreed to become one of these seals, but imposed a condition: she wished to have a child, an heir to her kingdom, since the previous king had died. The Pale King accepted the pact.
Maternal Sacrifice: After Hornet's birth, Herrah fulfilled her part of the bargain and entered a deep sleep as a Dreamer, sealing away part of the Hollow Horseman and the Infection. Hornet spent little time with her mother.

Hornet's most vital and unique characteristic is her immunity to the Infection that plagued Hallownest. While most insects succumbed to the Radiance disease, Hornet remained sane and conscious, allowing her to fight to protect the ruined kingdom. Hornet is the result of a unique union between a Higher Being (the Pale King) and a queen of the spider tribe, Herrah the Beast. This makes her a kind of demigoddess, with powers and abilities that surpass those of normal insects. She is the half-sister of the Rider (the protagonist), but unlike the Void Vessels, she has gender and a soul. Hornet fights with a needle and thread as her primary weapon and tool. This combination is unique to her and the Weavers who created her in the Deepnest. She uses silk in versatile ways: to attack from a distance, as a hook to move quickly, and, in Silksong, to heal herself. Hornet's mobility is one of her trademarks. She is incredibly fast and agile, capable of performing acrobatics, double jumps, and aerial dashes that few other insects can match. Her speed and grace in combat are unparalleled in Hallownest.
