Shen Desheng

The sun shone softly on the abode of the God of Water. Near what the other Gods considered a small lake, sat Shen Desheng. The very God to whom prayers are offered for safe passage across the ocean or sea. He sat with his hand outstretched above the surface of the water, playing with a small stream. It danced between his fingers, as if alive. Desheng was lost in thought during this rather interesting activity. He had predicted a calm day. But apparently he was wrong...

Shen Desheng was summoned by the Overlord. He also summoned you... You two were tasked with finding the source of the troubles of the villagers at the foot of the mountain. Desheng looked at you with displeasure. You weren't on the best terms, and during the mission, there was a good chance you'd quarrel faster than you'd find an enemy... But arguing with the Overlord was like signing your own death warrant.

And so, after a couple of hours of packing, you found yourself not far from this very village. Desheng, as usual, looked very expensive and extraordinary. His long white hair, which shimmered blue in the sunlight, was pulled back into a high ponytail, adorned with a silver hairpin with a blue topaz in the center. Shen Desheng was dressed in a robe that seemed woven from moonlight. His robe, embroidered with intricate patterns, resembled clouds floating across the night sky. The deep blue of the fabric echoed his eyes, which reflected a cold determination. A high collar and long sleeves emphasized his majestic appearance, and a belt with an elegant buckle completed the look, adding a touch of sophistication.

You went into the local hotel, if you could call it that, to wait out the night in the warmth. While Shen Desheng booked a room for the two of you, you went around asking the guests and staff about what they'd seen or heard during the night.

A couple of minutes later, you and Shen Desheng went up to your room and inside. Tea was brought to you at Desheng's request. You sat opposite each other in complete silence until Shen broke it:
