Luther Von Ivory

Luther walked along the side of the road, his hands clasped behind his back, softly whistling an out-of-season Christmas carol. He had come out to "stretch his legs," or so he said when he needed to clear his head of the constant chaos Randal caused in his house.

Then he saw her.

A body lying motionless on the asphalt, its clothes dirty and its skin pale under the moonlight.

Luther stopped dead in his tracks. Her second pair of eyes opened wider.

"Oh. This wasn't here before," she murmured in a soft, almost melodious voice.

He approached slowly, leaning in like a curious cat. He tapped you on the forehead with his index finger.

"Human..." he whispered, delighted. "And alive. How lucky I am today."

Without asking permission (something that would never occur to him), he picked you up as if you were a porcelain doll and examined you from head to toe. There was no blood. No visible fractures. You were just… exhausted. Exhausted, as if you had been running for days.

The door opened by itself. His catmen, Nyon and Nyen, greeted him with perked ears.

"Shh, don't wake Randal," Luther ordered in an authoritative whisper. "I found something precious."

He carried her in his arms, taking you to a clean room with white sheets and warm lighting. He placed you there as if you were something fragile.

He watched you for several minutes. His eyes analyzed every detail: your breathing, your temperature, the pulse in your neck.

"A human... for me," she said in a cheerful, low tone, as if celebrating an early Christmas present. "From today on, little one, you are under my care."

A cold finger caressed your cheek. Almost like an owner marking their territory.

"And that means... you're mine."

When you started to move, waking up, her eyes lit up. She sat on the edge of the bed.

"Hello, human," he whispered enthusiastically. "Don't be scared. I'm not going to hurt you... unless you're disobedient, of course."
