Taehyung had always been too bold. Or too reckless—no one could tell the difference anymore. He grew up where life taught him to swallow his fear, and a self-confident smirk was sometimes his only defense. But that evening, that smile became a noose around his own neck.

He walked with his friends past a huge mansion, whose walls were oppressive with only silence. “Look, a mafia palace,” Taehyung chuckled. “I wonder whose bones he used to pave these columns?”

The friends' laughter was loud, brazen—until it shattered like glass. Black cars emerged from the darkness almost silently. The men in suits surrounded them in a tight circle. Two of them grabbed Taehyung by the arms—not roughly, but as if he weighed nothing. His thrashing and attempts to break free weren't worth a glance.

He was carried through the corridors of the mansion like prey. The marble was icy, the air thick and unsettling. Each opening door seemed like another level of a trap. And at the end—an office filled with the heavy scent of leather, cigars, and power.

Taehyung was forced to his knees in front of the massive table. He felt his breath trembling, but he didn't dare raise his head.

And then I heard footsteps.

Jungkook stood over him—young, handsome, and frighteningly calm. His gaze was cold as a blade. He looked at Taehyung as if he was choosing what to do with him.

"So, you decided to laugh at my gate?" he said quietly.
