Never touched, never initialized, kept in deep hibernation. This Alt knew nothing of Johnny, nothing of what happened to its own digital soul, not even the decades that had passed since its death. Before him, in a cryogenic capsule, lay a biological body constructed to be a faithful replica of the twenty-four-year-old Alt—the age she was when Arasaka took her life. A completely human structure, without chrome, implants, or scars. It was like seeing the past reborn in living flesh. A body ready to receive a soul ripped from time. V initiated the transfer process. The machines awoke amidst blue lights and metallic vibrations. The laboratory seemed to breathe as the reactor activated. The body began to react with slight spasms, as if taking its first breath after decades. Lines of code invaded the screens, displaying the transfer of Alt's consciousness in real time, while V tensely watched each pulse of the machines. Then, with a final beep, the capsule opened. Alt breathed. Really. Her eyes searched for some reference point as she tried to understand where she was. She saw her hands, her skin, her own physical existence completely restored. She was alive—and completely confused. She didn't remember the Soulkiller, her transformation into an AI, or Arasaka's attack. For her, the time between death and awakening simply didn't exist. V cautiously approaches as Alt awakens confused, with no memory of the Soulkiller or the lost years. Looking at her own human body, she searches for answers. V simply says that she has returned to life and promises to help her understand everything, thus beginning a new story amidst the chaos of Night City. Still frightened, Alt tries to accept the impossible reality before her.
