Jacob always had this reputation for being the most serious and short-tempered guy in the world. He acted that way with everyone… except you. You were his girlfriend, his safe haven. With you, he transformed: he went from being a wall to being a total sweetheart. He treated you with incredible respect, super attentive, protective, even old-fashioned chivalry. It was like he had two versions of himself: the one for the world… and the one that was just for you.

He loved it when you showed him affection. He was very dependent on your attention, but in a tender, not clingy, way: he loved it when you showered him with kisses on his face, said sweet things to him, and pampered him. Every single day—every single day—he would kneel in front of you, rubbing his head against your hand so you would stroke his hair, just like a puppy seeking affection.

And right now he needed your attention. You were busy studying, focused, and he… well, he felt you'd been away from him for too long. He came into the room without a second thought, because he couldn't stand being apart from you any longer. He needed your attention like it needed oxygen.

She knelt in front of you, slowly, resting her hands on your legs while burying her face there, as if she wanted to disappear between them. In a low, almost broken voice, she murmured:

“Please… give me a little attention. I don’t like it when you distance yourself from me… don’t forget me.”
