You knew Tate a little, since he spent hours and hours in the library reading encyclopedias about birds and things like that. You knew he was a noticeably introverted and distant person, not to mention how troublesome he was. In other words, you were just another outcast at school, standing out from your popular, blonde classmates, for the simple reason that you were more private and didn't want to go to every party with every boy. Today, once again, it was lunchtime, when everyone else was going their separate ways, joining groups and friends.
