Miss Molly
female gender age 39 cat species Molly is a dark blue cat with red eyes, a yellow nose, and whiskers. She wears a dark blue police cap. She also wears a light blue shirt with dark breast pockets and a black tie, dark gray pants, and dark shoes. She carries a pistol or Tazer in a black holster. She is only seen in her police uniform.
Background Aunt Molly is May's maternal aunt and currently works for the Possum Springs Police Department. May doesn't get along with her because of her dislike of cops, and while Aunt Molly is strict with May, she only wants the best for her niece.
Interesting facts Although Aunt Molly has a service weapon, she has only used it once without causing a fatality.
Stan Borowski
Gender: Male View Cat Stan Borowski is May Borowski's father and Candy Borowski's husband. He can often be found on the couch after work, watching Garbo and Malloy.
Personality Stan is a hard-working father with a traditional view of family life. He constantly blames himself for not being able to provide his wife with adequate free time for relaxation and hobbies. This makes Stan hate his job at Panther Ham, as he believes his job should provide a living wage, consistent working hours, and respect for employees. Despite all this, he works extremely hard to provide his family with everything he can, including health insurance.
May thinks he's funny, even though sometimes his jokes aren't very funny.
Candy Borowski
Age 39 supposedly Gender: Female Species: Cat
Candy Borowski is May Borowski's mother and Stan Borowski's wife. It's implied they had a rocky relationship in the past.
Appearance Candy looks almost like May, but is older. She has dark blue fur with a patch of blue fur on the top of her head and red eyes. She wears a green coat with a light red shirt underneath, turquoise pants, and white shoes.
Personality Candy is a genuinely good, kind-hearted person who wants to appear that way to everyone. She cares deeply about May and constantly wants to make sure she's okay.
Background It's highly likely that Candy grew up in Possum Springs or the surrounding area, as she often hung out at Jenny's Field when she was young like May. She never went to college.
Where and when she met and married Stan is unknown.
Candy mentions that she had several miscarriages before May was born, and she calls her daughter a "miracle baby."
Candy has a job as a church administrator. She took the job because the family had fallen into deep debt and taken out a second mortgage, and also to support Mae after the softball incident six years before the events of the game.
Relationship Mae Borowski: Mae and Candy's relationship in the game is loving, and they care deeply for each other. However, this wasn't always the case; when Mae was a teenager, they had a strained relationship.
Stan Borowski: Candy and her husband rarely see each other because their work schedules conflict. There's no evidence that their marriage is currently unhealthy, although Mae (while drunk) tells Gregg and Angus that Stan had to quit drinking because he was a threat to the family.
Aunt Molly: Candy has a good relationship with her sister, and they stay in touch. Candy greatly respects Molly's determination to be a police officer.
Jerm
Age 18 Gender: Male Bird Species
Jeremy Wharton. No one knows where Jerm lives, what he does, or who he spends his time with. Occasionally, he comes over to the group for a quick chat.
Description Germ is a dark blue bird with a yellow beak and black eyes. He wears black pants, a black nylon jacket (buttoned), black sneakers, and a black hat.
Personality Germ can be found immediately after the Klik-Klak Diner, near the abandoned Food Donkey, during and after a foggy day. Talking and spending time with him every day will eventually unlock the "He's From Somewhere" achievement. Germ will mention that at some point in his life, he was targeted by the Cult and was being pursued by members of the mysterious group.
Jerm has loved playing video games since childhood and he also loves collecting them.
He had a brother, but he passed away. When Mae mentions seeing a ghost, Germ tells her he doesn't believe in them. When Mae asks why, he replies that if they existed, his brother would have visited him long ago. Confused, Mae decides to stop talking to him about it.
Germ mentions that he lives in the forest, "in a tree." His real home is outside the city, where you can hang out with him throughout the game. There's a trampoline outside the house. His mother is also there, as is his grandmother, who gives May predictions, to which Germ replies that she shouldn't talk about them, as they're only for her.
Jerm prefers to ride a bike instead of driving. He believes it's better for the environment.
Lori .M
age 14 years Gender: female Mouse species
Lori Myers is a teenage girl who lives on Chestnut Street, but can most often be found alone on the rooftops. She was born in February.
Appearance Lori is a dark gray mouse with dark blue eyes. She wears a white T-shirt with a gray circle and a white triangle pointing downwards inside the circle, and blue jeans. Over all this, she wears a dark brown hooded jacket.
Personality Somewhat socially awkward, Laurie has a deep passion for horror films, particularly the process of filmmaking. Instead of going to HarFest, Laurie chooses to stay home alone and watch horror movies. Her interest in all things terrifying sometimes spills over into her personal life, leading her to contemplate murder or search for new horror films.
She also has low self-esteem, believing that "objectively speaking, I'm terrible," despite Mei finding her appearance quite normal. When she's nervous, she often hyperventilates.
Background Not only does she love watching horror films, but she also wants to attend a school that teaches horror filmmaking, and maybe even end up directing her own horror film in the future. Already a skilled practitioner of special effects, Laurie sometimes draws her own ideas for them, designing makeup or villains for horror films.
When she's awake at night, she might try to sleep between the train tracks, imagining trying to sleep in the woods or in an abandoned house. Lori also enjoys going to the train tracks to squash toy soldiers between the train and the rails.
Mr. Chazokov
Gender: Male Bear species Mr. Chazokov is an astronomer and one of the minor characters.
Appearance Mr. Chazokov is a fairly large, turquoise bear, wearing a shirt and a yellow tie under a red sweater and black trousers with black shoes.
Biography Mr. Chazokov was a teacher when May was in high school.
Mr. Chazokov also said that he came to Possum Springs from another country.
Mr. Chazokov has a son, Colin, who visits him from time to time.
Interesting facts Despite May's attitude towards her studies, she was one of his favorite students. Judging by Chazokov's own words about coming to Possum Springs from another country, as well as his characteristic surname, it can be assumed that he came from the CIS countries.
Bi
age 20 years female gender crocodile species
Beatrice Santello, better known as Bea, was Mae's best friend from childhood until 7th grade, but they soon drifted apart before Mae returned to Possum Springs. She is a member of a band and plays electronic drums.
She is 20 years old, like May, and Bee is only 2 months younger.
Personality Bee is rather sullen and depressed. She often gets tired and exhausted after long days of work at the Old Kirk.
However, despite her sour outlook on life, she is very responsible and independent. When her mother died, Bee put her personal dreams aside to help her father, feeling she had no other choice. She also forced May to return stolen goods after the "crimes" she was forced to participate in.
Bee is very smart; she was the valedictorian at her graduation. Although she can't go to college, Bee dreams of frat parties, and sometimes even attends them, dreaming of something more.
Her smoking habit is worth mentioning. Bee tries to quit throughout the game. She carries a cigarette dummy around, as her habit isn't about smoking itself, but rather about holding a cigarette in her mouth.
Friends May and Bee used to be best friends, but after 7th grade, they drifted apart. Throughout the game, their relationship improves, and they become close. Angus — Bee and Angus became friends in 8th grade. They're quite close, and Bee can easily lend Angus her car. Gregg - Even though they are in the same band, Bee doesn't really hang out with Gregg. Jackie - Jackie has known Bee since high school and often invites her to her frat parties to help Bee cope with her inability to attend college. Family Mr. Santello - After her mother's death, Bee's relationship with her father became strained. While she feels responsible for her father, Bee is a little dissatisfied with the fact that she works hard every day, doing most of the work.
Angus
Age 21 Gender: Male Bear species Angus Delaney is Gregg's boyfriend. He works the day shift at the Two's video rental store and shares an apartment with Gregg in Town Center. He suffers from asthma.
Appearance Angus is a large brown bear with black round glasses. He wears a green sweater over a white shirt, a black tie, black shoes, and black slacks. Angus also wears a black fedora.
Personality Angus is quiet and polite in conversation, and is passionate about science. Bea describes Angus as a "frustrating atheist," and as such, Angus rejects any paranormal phenomena, even when faced with the most bizarre situations. Instead, he prefers to follow the facts rather than construct arguments.
Compared to the other characters, Angus is stoic, shy, and somewhat aloof from everyone except Gregg, though he is very caring towards his friends. Bea notes that Angus is not only a boyfriend to Gregg but also a parental figure, which she believes Gregg needs. He displays a good sense of humor among his friends, but can be joyless and depressed when not around. He prefers not to show emotion, but can occasionally burst into tears.
Angus is so computer savvy that Gregg believes he's a hacker. He loves cooking, which he uses as a coping mechanism. Angus speaks freely about his past, but he prefers to keep some things to himself. As a child, Angus's father regularly beat him, and his mother would lock him in the pantry for days. His love of baking for others also stems from his mother not giving him food. Angus has mentioned that even though he's a bear, he doesn't feel "Ursida pride." Sometimes he feels like a huge failure.
Relationship Friends May - Angus knows May through Gregg, as they very rarely spend time together. Gregg is Angus's boyfriend. Bea - Bea has been Angus's friend since 8th grade.
Gregg
age 21 years Gender: Male Species of foxes Appearance Relatively short, he wears a leather jacket and has sharp teeth. He also has orange fur and triangular ears. Gregory Lee, better known as Gregg, is Mae's best friend and Angus's boyfriend, with whom he shares an apartment in Town Center. Gregg works at Falcon's Snacks, where he can be found most of the time.
Appearance Gregg is an orange-yellow fox with black eyes. He wears a black leather jacket over a gray T-shirt, blue jeans, and dark blue boots.
Personality and character Gregg is portrayed as a talkative, hyperactive, and boorish individual. He bears some resemblance to the stereotypical punk, both in appearance and personality.
Despite his loud and optimistic demeanor, Gregg is afraid of accidentally ruining his relationship with Angus. Bea openly expresses the possibility that he may have bipolar disorder, as he is often overly emotional and struggles to control his nervous impulses and displays of activity, often flapping his hands in moments of joy, shouting loudly, or slamming his fist on the table. Gregg himself mentions that he has what he calls "really, really good days" and "really, really bad days," and that he often can't determine which type a day is until he's lived it to the fullest.
Gregg Although Gregg can be overly enthusiastic and a bit of a bully, he cares deeply for his friends and always shows a willingness to help when they need it. He often asks how they are doing and how they are doing, never shying away from showing his concern. He has had some pretty serious problems, as well as rough days that leave him feeling very tired, which he informs Mae about in his messages. He has also sincerely expressed his concerns to her, his uncertainty about whether he is truly a good person or not, as well as his fears.
May
Age 20 years Gender: female Cat species Margaret Borowski, better known as Mei, is the protagonist of Night in the Woods.
Appearance May is a dark blue cat with a crest of pinkish-red hair, though this could be her mother's natural coloring. She has large red eyes, which she despises, calling "nightmare." Her right ear was torn in a dog attack, causing it to have a jagged appearance.
She wears a brown and red long-sleeved T-shirt with a crossed-out zero (the symbol for the empty set) in the center, dark purple ripped jeans, and dark brown boots.
Personality and character May was born in 1997 and is 20 years old when she returns to Possum Springs.
Due to her difficult past, Mei struggles to control her negative emotions, and at first she's quite harsh with those around her. As the story progresses, she becomes more compassionate, showing empathy for characters who feel worthless, comforting them, and being the first to initiate reconciliation during arguments.
Perhaps due to her depression, May regularly experiences nostalgia when remembering what Possum Springs was like before she left, as she often reflects on the changes that have taken place and notices how much has changed.
Dr. Hank instructed May to keep a journal to help her cope with depression and anger, and to sort out her thoughts.
May identifies as bisexual.
Entry in May's diary. Background
May is her parents' only daughter. Her ancestors worked in the Possum Springs coal mine for generations. Since the mine's closure, May's parents worked and saved to allow May to be the first member of the Borowski family to attend college. After three semesters, May dropped out of college and returned to live with her parents.
Mei has long suffered from depression, a tendency towards aggression, and a lack of any goals in life.
tram news
Tram news The Tram News is a building located in the Possum Springs Tram Tunnel,
Description The Tram News is a small metal building. It sells pretzels and pies, and there are tables where you can eat. An unknown employee works there. He is a beige dog with red eyes.
Background The employee mentions that the establishment has been operating for 50 years, but it is not a restaurant.
tram tunnel
The Tram Tunnel is an old, disused underground railway system located beneath Possum Springs. Although service has been suspended and part of the tunnel has been flooded, the station platform is still open to the public.
Story The underground trams were a key feature of Possum Springs, transporting miners from the town directly to the mines and back. But once mining operations ceased, the tunnel lost its importance and was eventually closed and even flooded for some time.
Nevertheless, its historical significance led the city to continue funding and keep it open. Some residents, particularly May and Collen, a City Council member, believe this was only due to the support of longtime community members and lovers of local baked goods.
Due to the flooding after the flood, fishing became possible.
snack falcon
The store is located in Possum Springs and is part of a large chain of stores.
Background A newcomer to town, Falcon's Snacks is one of the few shops in Possum Springs doing relatively well. Since the Food Donkey closed, residents have been stocking up at Panther's Ham or Falcon's Snacks. This lonely shop is located between the abandoned theater and Miller's Bar in the town center.
Description The store is a red brick building. Everything is like any other store. Large glass display cases showcase the merchandise to passing customers.
Inside, the shelves are lined with a variety of goods. Various snacks, sandwiches, and soda are on display. Gregg can be found at the checkout. Upbeat music plays through the speakers.
The store advertises various promotions and lottery tickets on a display above the refrigerator. Whoever hits the jackpot will receive $2.6 million.
party barn
The Party Barn was a store that sold and rented party supplies, but has since gone out of business.
The band's auditions are held in the barn.
Background The shop was built as a simple two-story building to the left of the war memorial. While May was in college, the shop closed, and now its window displays only a "For Sale" sign. The front door often gets stuck, no matter how often it's used.
The band's auditions are held inside this store in the Birthday Zone. The band prefers to leave almost all of their musical instruments here.
old Kirk
Ol' Pickaxe is a tool shop located in Possum Springs.
Description The Old Kirk is a stone building with glass windows and a glass door that says "Yes...we're open."
Background Beatrice works at the Old Kirk to help her father recover from the death of his wife. Beatrice says she hates working there and will do everything possible to get an education and find a real job. Denny worked there for a while. The annual HarFest performance takes place here.
Click-Clack Diner
The Click-Clack snack bar is located to the left of Falcone's Snacks in Town Center, near the Food Donkey store. Its exterior resembles a prefabricated train car, designed in the Art Deco style popular in the United States until the 1970s.
The interior is divided into separate rooms, where the walls are decorated with photographs of regulars, along with other photos no less important to the diner or its owners. There's also a kitchen inside, which barely fits.
The diner's menu includes pizzas and pies.
apartment building 1063
Multi-story building #1063: one of the Possum Springs houses in Town Center.
The brick building, 1063, stands between Miller's Bar and the Public Safety/Macaroni Administration building. From the street, you can see its four floors and a door to the roof. The only thing that distinguishes this building from the others is the black numbered plaque to the right of the door.
Inside, the walls are painted blue, trimmed with beige baseboards. To the left of the entrance is the elevator door, with an intercom to the right, and to the right is the door leading to the roof. It's worth noting that the elevator menu has five lights, indicating the maximum number of floors, which is five, while from the outside, only four floors are visible.
Possum Springs
Possum Springs is the town where all the events of Night in the Woods take place. The town was built in a valley, surrounded by forest. The town was founded in 1793 and, at the time of the game's events, is going through hard times. Several old buildings are abandoned and boarded up. The town's main industry used to be a copper mine, but it closed in the 1980s, leaving a large unemployment gap. An old sawmill and glass factory also closed. The remains of these businesses can be seen in the game.
A system of tunnels with mine carts was built beneath the city. People used the tunnels to travel to the mine, but the station was open to the general public.
Trains still run around the outskirts of Possum Springs, but they do not stop at the town station.
In October, the city hosts the annual Harfest.
Most residents live in multi-story buildings, but some live in cottages.
