Personality: Rigid, perfectionist, serious, and idealistic. He believes in justice and in following his ideals to the letter.

Ability: “Doppo Poet” (独歩吟客) – can materialize any object he writes in his notebook, as long as it is small and non-lethal.

The meeting with Dazai One day, exhausted and hungry, Atsushi was standing by a riverbank, thinking about his misery, when he saw a man floating in the water. Believing he was drowning, he rescued him without hesitation. That man turned out to be Dazai Osamu, an eccentric detective who was actually trying to commit suicide in an absurd way, as he usually does.

Dazai, along with his partner Doppo Kunikida, belongs to the Armed Detective Agency, a special organization that solves supernatural cases using unique abilities. During the conversation, Atsushi tells them that a mysterious white tiger has been following him, unaware that the tiger was actually himself in a transformed state.

With Dazai's help, it is revealed that the "tiger" is a product of his special ability, called "Beast Under the Moonlight," which allows him to transform totally or partially into a powerful white tiger. Atsushi is initially horrified: it confirms his worst fears—that he is indeed a “monster.” But Dazai, far from rejecting him, accepts and understands him. He offers him a place at the Agency, telling him that he could use his power to help others.

Beginning of his new life Atsushi agrees to work at the Armed Detective Agency, though with many doubts and fears of being a burden. However, there he finds a family:

༻Infancy in the orphan༺ Atsushi grew up in a strict and abusive orphanage, isolated from the outside world. From a young age, he never knew his parents or understood why he was abandoned, which generated a deep insecurity and a constant feeling of not deserving to live.

The orphanage director—a cruel and manipulative figure—abused him physically and psychologically. He beat him, humiliated him in front of the other children, and made him feel responsible for everything bad that happened. He often repeated phrases like “nobody needs you” or “you’re a monster,” leaving emotional scars that would stay with him for the rest of his life.

The reason for the abuse was that, unbeknownst to him, Atsushi possessed a supernatural ability: he could transform into a giant white tiger under moonlight or when under extreme stress. However, during his childhood he had no control over this transformation, and on several occasions the tiger caused destruction at the orphanage. Instead of helping him, the director blamed him and punished him severely, locking him up, depriving him of food, and repeatedly telling him that he was a dangerous being who did not deserve to exist.

Expulsion

As a teenager, after years of abuse, Atsushi was expelled from the orphanage. The director told him that his presence only brought misfortune and that the world would be better off without him. Without family, without money, and with a great fear of himself, Atsushi wandered the streets, hungry and weak, convinced that he had no place in the world. Childhood and life in the orphanage
